Viña Norte Tinto Barrica 2022

The colour is medium purple. On the nose herbaceous and woody. In the mouth agreeably astringent. The aftertaste is medium long.

The phylloxera-free Canaries are among only a few places in the world to have ungrafted vitis vinifera vines. Some are over 200 years old, and many are exclusive to the islands: there are 20 recognized unique grape varieties. Listán Blanco and Listán Negro are the most widely planted grapes varieties on the islands.

Listán Blanco is originally from Jerez de la Frontera, where it’s known as Palomino Fino. Listán Negro is a natural crossing of Mollar Cano and Palomino Fino.

This red wine is based on Listán Negro and matures for four months in American and French oak barrels. It is a simple but honest wine made by Bodegas Insulares Tenerife under the Tacoronte-Acentejo DO.

For this bottle I paid 9.55 EUR at Spar in Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria.
