Champin le Seigneur 2012

The colour is deep garnet, slightly clouded. On the nose bacon, ash, pepper, grilled meat. In the mouth balanced and tasty. The aftertaste last for quite a while.

This Syrah based wine is made by Domain Jean-Michel Gerin in Ampuis, in the heart of the Côte-Rôtie vineyards.

Côte-Rôtie is the northernmost appellation of the Rhone Valley. The vineyards are located some 30km south of Lyon.

I bought this bottle when I visited the winery in 2015. I don’t remember how much I paid back then, but for sure less that the 60 CHF more recent vintages sell for.
