ADN de Meunier Rosé Brut

The colour is deep salmon, with very fine, medium-lasting bubbles. On the nose canine rose, strawberries, bred crust. In the mouth firm tannins, which is unusual for a Champagne, and lightly salty. The aftertaste is medium long.

This Rosé Champagne is made 100% with Pinot Meunier grapes from the Marne Valley by Christophe Mignon, an independent vigneron that cultivates his vineyards and makes his wines in harmony with the lunar calendar and according to biodynamic principles.

The pigmentation of a Rosé Champagne is usually achieved by adding some 15% red wine to an existing white cuvée. The saignée method is also used, although less often. In this case, pink juice is removed from the must and then fermented without the skins.

This Rosé is done in an assemblage style, with some Meunier vinified as still red wine added to a core of Meunier vinified off the skins. More specifically, in this case 16% to 20% of home made Meunier red wine is added to the blend.

This Champagne is made with wines 50% from the 2017 vintage and 50% from the 2018 vintage. This bottle has been disgorged in September 2021. The dosage of this brut is 7-9 g/L.

I bought this champagne at Les Caves du Forum in Reims for 42.30 EUR.
