This 100% Vespaiolo grapes based biologic wine is made by Le Vie Angarano winery in Bassano del Grappa, under the DOC Breganze of Veneto.
Vespaiolo is a white wine variety grown mainly in the Veneto wine region of northeastern Italy. Its most famous vinous incarnation is as Breganze Torcolato, a dessert wine made around the town of Breganze, at the foot of the Vicentine Alps. Torcolato wines are sweet (the minimum sugar level is 35 g/l), with rich aromas of honey, marmelade, peaches and apricots.
The name Vespaiolo is believed to come from the Italian word for wasp, a reference to the insects that buzz around the grapes on hot, early autumn afternoons as the grapes progress to full, late-harvest ripeness.
The Breganze DOC, awarded in 1969, covers a wide range of red, white and sparkling wines.
