The company was established in 1945 in the Finger Lakes region of New York, selling bulk wine to bottlers in the eastern United States. In its first year, the company sold approximately 200’000 gallons of wine. It went public in 1973, the year I was born.
Born from Italian immigrants, Robert Mondavi has been an iconic wine producer, who deeply influenced Napa Valley’s and America’s winemaking, making plenty of money in the process.
