Golden color, very bright and less dark than you would expect from a 10 years old white. Slightly oxidised, but again less than you would expect given the age.
On the nose a predominance of almonds and beeswax. In the mouth, at first it tastes like a raw carrot, with a savoury note. Musar fills you with a creamy texture, wide and well balanced.
The wine has a good freshness and structure. The final is very tasty and the persistency very, very long.
An outstanding unique wine. Very interesting, but not easy drinking. A style that is neither for everyday nor for everybody.
Chateau Musar White is a blend of the ancient grape varieties Obaideh and Merwah, indigenous of the mountains of Lebanon. These vines remained phylloxera free and are still on their original roots.
It is a well-known fact that red wines tend to be enjoyed too warm and white ones too cold. Chateau Musar White is recommended to be served at 15°C.
Although already 10 years old, this is a wine that can still be cellared for a few years. I bought this bottle at ARVI for 38 CHF.
