Clairette de Die Clairdie Tradition

The perlage is delicate. On the nose very aromatic, with notes of melon, peach, pear, and mandarin. In the mouth delicate and refreshing, with some residual sweetness.

Clairette de Die Tradition wines are sparkling wines made under the Clairette de Die appellation of the eastern part of the Rhône Valley wine region.

These wines are not made, like Champagne, using méthode traditionelle. The local méthode ancestrale/dioise is older and gives slightly sweet wines, with grapey flavors.

The wines are fermented once rather than twice, the process being started in wooden or steel tanks. After this first stage, the wine is transferred to bottles (without the addition of either sugar or yeast), where the fermentation continues and runs its course naturally. The wines only reach 7% to 9% alcohol. There is no disgorgement stage.

Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains is the dominant grape variety in Tradition wines, making up at least 75% of the blend. The Clairette variety that gives the wine its name can make up a maxiumum of 25%.

Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains (Moscato Bianco in Italy) is the oldest member of the Muscat family and one of the oldest grape varieties in the world.

Clairette is a light-colored grape variety that grows throughout southern France. It was once widespread and used to make vermouth, to which it is suited as it produces wines high in alcohol and low in acidity.
