The colour is medium gold. On the nose honey, almonds, dried apricots, banana, ginger. In the mouth filling, elegant and tasty. The aftertaste is savoury and last for quite a while.
This top of the range Valais white wine is made by Bonvin with Petite Arvine, Heida and Amigne grapes. All three grapes are peculiar to Valais. The fermentation and the maturation on lees are carried out in new oak barrels.
Bonvin is the oldest winery of Valais. Founded in Sion in 1858, it has made a major contribution to the reputation of the Valais appellation d’origine contrôlée.
In 1992, Bonvin 1858 Les Domaines and Maison Varone (founded in 1900) joined forces and created “Les Celliers de Champsec”, at first a purely economic partnership. A cooperation that with time evolved and strengthened. In 2010, the joint venture changed the names to “Les Celliers de Sion”.
I bought this bottle at Les Celliers de Sion for 47 CHF. It is well worth the price.
