The colour is medium gold, with a fine perlage. On the nose floral, with oxidative and caramelised notes. In the mouth very tasty and elegant. The taste and the very long aftertaste remind of dry sherry.
Femme de Champagne is the top product of the Champagne House Duval-Leroy, an independent family business founded in 1859 and located in the prestigious Côte des Blancs.
The Cuvée Femme de Champagne Grand Cru 2002 is made with 95% Chardonnay from the terroirs of Avize, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Cramant, and 5% Pinot Noir from Ambonnay. 20% of the wines were vinified in oak barrels to provide an elegant and silky texture.
The 2002 vintage was characterised by excellent climatic conditions, with low rainfall, a very mild winter and a hot summer. As Brut Nature, without added sugar, Femme de Champagne is the purest expression of the vintage.
