The colour is pale ruby. The nose is dominated by red fruits: raspberries, strawberries and cherries, with some dried roses. In the mouth smooth and pleasant. It is a shame that the aftertaste doesn’t last longer.
This Blauburgunder is produced near Bolzano by K. Martini & Sohn, a family run winery founded in 1979.
Blauburgunder is the name used for Pinot Noir in the DOC Südtirol-Alto Adige, where this wine is produced. Pinot Noir is called Blauburgunder in Switzerland and Austria as well, while in Gemany is named Spätburgunder.
This is the first of six Pinot Noir I received as a present from an Italian friend, who is an enthusiast of of the grape. When we first met we shared our passion for wine and he offered to provide me with a selection of moderately priced Pinot Noir produced in Italy. This bottle costs 12.50 EUR. At this price I find it a very good product. This is the kind of wine that confirms that to have an enjoyable drinking experience you don’t need to spend much. All you have to do is to select a wine with a good PQR.
