The colour is deep ruby with garnet hues. On the nose blueberries, blue cherries, prunes, liquorice, meat. In the mouth smooth, with a savoury lingering aftertaste.
Hacienda Monasterio 2014 is a blend 80% Tempranillo and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. It has been made by Peter Sisseck of Pingus fame. The vineyards are located between Pesquera and Valbuena de Duero, two Duero valley towns famous for the quality of their wines.
I visited the winery in 2015, along with Bodegas Aalto, Bodegas Tinto Pesquera and Bodegas Emilio Moro. The hospitality at Bodegas Hacienda Monasterio was overwhelming. I really enjoyed it and will remember it forever.
I bought this bottle in at Globus for 44.90 CHF in 2018.
