Krug Grande Cuvée 170ème Edition

The colour is pale gold. At pouring there are a lot of bubbles, but they disappear quickly. On the nose citrus fruits, marzipan, gingerbread and butter. In the mouth very tasty but “tiring”. The aftertaste is medium long, but acidic.

This iconic Champagne is made by Krug. The House was established in Reims in 1843, by Joseph Krug. In January 1999 it became part of LVMH portfolio.

Krug Grande Cuvée was born from the vision of its founder of making the very best Champagne he could offer, every single year, regardless of annual variations in climate.

Since its founding, the House of Krug has honoured this vision with the Krug Grande Cuvée, which is re-created every year, beyond the notion of vintage, as a blend of over 120 individual wines from more than 10 different years.

The Édition number identifies a specific creation of Krug Grande Cuvée. It corresponds to the number of years the founder’s dream has been re-created.

The 170ème Édition of Krug Grande Cuvée is a blend of 195 wines from 12 different years. The youngest is from the year 2014 and the oldest dates back to 1998. Before being released it stayed for seven years in Krug’s cellars. Reserve wines from the Maison’s extensive library made up 45% of the final blend, bringing it the breadth and roundness so essential to each Édition of Krug Grande Cuvée.

The composition of the 170ème Édition of Krug Grande Cuvée is 51% Pinot Noir, 38% Chardonnay and 11% Petit Meunier.
