The colour is medium gold. On the nose Valais apricots and pears, accompanied by honey on a buttered brioche. In the mouth discrete, with a medium lasting aftertaste.
This wine is made with Marsanne and Rousanne grapes, both autochthonous of the French Rhône Valley, which geographically start in the Swiss Canton of Valais, where this wine is produced.
The producer is Provins. With its 3’200 grape suppliers Provins is the largest (cooperative) winery in Switzerland and producer of nearly 10% of all Swiss wine.
Maître de Chais is a line of wines created in 1973 to follow the Grand Cru idea. Cru referring to a vineyard or group of vineyards of recognized quality. Wines in this line try to give the best expression of the grape variety they are made with.
This bottle sells for 28.90 CHF on Provins online shop. I bought it at LIDL for 19.90 CHF.
