The colour is medium yellow. On the nose mirabelles, white peaches, banana, grapefruit, almonds. In the mouth very smooth and tasty, but less opulent than on the nose. The aftertaste is not very long, but pleasantly fruity.
This white wine is made by Cantina Monti. It is a blend of white grapes: more than 50% Müller-Thurgau, with Chardonnay and a bit of Pinot Gris. The pressed must is fermented and aged in barrique.
Cantina Monti was founded by Sergio Monti in 1976. To these days it is still a small family run business. It only produces higher quality wines for a total of less than 25’000 bottles. It is considered among the best producers in Ticino.
The vineyards are located on steep slopes (up to 70% gradient) facing south/southeast at an elevation of some 500 meters above sea level. They carry 3 varieties of white berry grapes -Müller-Thurgau, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris-, in addition to 7 varieties of red berry grapes -Merlot, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Diolinoir, Carminoir, Ancellotta, Americana.
At Coop this wine sells for 39.95 CHF.
