The colour is deep purple. On the nose prunes and over-ripe blackberries, combined with wood and a hint of tobacco. In the mouth smooth, with drying fruity finish. The aftertaste is medium long.
This wine is produced by Domain Cazes under the Côtes du Roussillon denomination of southern France.
Domain Cazes was founded by Michel Cazes in 1895. In 1997 it started converting to organic and biodynamic growing. In 2005 the entire domaine became a certified Organic and Biodynamic estate.
The Côtes du Roussillon denomination is the genetic AOC of the Roussillon region. When the appellation was created in 1977, the intention was more to create a catch-all title for the region than to identify or protect any particular wine style.
According to the AOC rules, red wines must be made with at least three varieties of grapes. The total of the two main variety grapes should not make more than 90% of the blend.
Marie-Gabrielle is produced exclusively for Coop with 50% Syrah, 40% Grenache and 10% Mourvèdre grapes. It is certified Naturaplan Bio and sells for 11.95 CHF. A Bio(dynamic) wine doesn’t need to be expensive!
