This Prosecco Rosé is made by Carpenè Malvolti under the Prosecco DOC denomination. It is a blend of Glera (min. 85%) and Pinot Nero (max. 15%) grapes.
Carpenè Malvolti was founded in 1868 by Antonio Carpenè and Antonio Malvolti. A scholar the first, a financier the second. In 1873 the company started producing Prosecco, but it wasn’t till 1924 that Prosecco Carpenè Malvolti as a brand was born. To these days the company is run by a member of the Carpenè family.
The Prosecco DOC area of production is located in northeast of Italy, and more precisely in 4 provinces of Friuli Venezia Giulia (Gorizia, Pordenone, Trieste and Udine) and 5 provinces of Veneto (Belluno, Padua, Treviso, Venezia, Vicenza). It is a white wine named after the village of Prosecco, which is located in the province of Trieste. Since 2020 the DOC rules allow a rosé variety of Prosecco, which must contain Glera blended with 10–15% Pinot Noir.
Within the huge designation there are two relatively small DOCG areas. Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco in the hills between the towns of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, and Asolo Prosecco around the nearby town of Asolo. Prosecco Superiore is always spumante and comes only from these DOCG areas.
