The colour is deep garnet. On the nose black cherries, plum, tobacco and game. In the mouth elegant and well balanced, with a drying long aftertaste.
Sono Montenidoli is made with 100% Sangiovese grape by Montenidoli winery. Before release the wine refines for 24 months in barriques and ages for 3 years in bottle.
The estate lies close to the medieval town of San Gimignano. Elisabetta Fagiuoli bought it in 1965. She replanted the vineyards, which had been abandoned, and from the beginning implemented organic farming principles and practices, which back then were far from being popular. The first wines were made in 1971. Back then Elisabetta Fagiuoli was a wine pioneer, nowadays she is a star in the Italian wine universe.
I bought this bottle at Enoteca Corsi in San Giminiano for 55.50 EUR.
