Natureo 0,0 Red 2021

The colour is medium purple. On the nose artificial cranberry. In the mouth artificial red fruits kind of flavours. The aftertaste is very short (fortunately).

Overall, a horrible experience!

Both my wife and my 13 years old son agreed. I therefore poured this bottle down the sink. In my opinion, a beverage like this should not even be allowed to be called wine. Continue reading “Natureo 0,0 Red 2021”

Pascal Henriot Pinot Noir 2021

The colour is (very) pale ruby. On the nose at first mainly acetone, which with some air fades, but doesn’t disappear (unfortunately). In the mouth acidic. The aftertaste doesn’t last long (fortunately).

This Pinot Noir is made by Pascal Henriot under the IGP Franche-Comté denomination of France. A wide denomination that covers red, white and rosé wines, both still and sparkling, from a large, mountainous area of eastern France. Continue reading “Pascal Henriot Pinot Noir 2021”

Terrini Boca 2016

The colour is deep garnet. On the nose blood and alcohol (my blood type 😊). In the mouth tannins and alcohol. The aftertaste is very short (fortunately). This wine is barely drinkable, and I decided not to drink it.

Boca DOC is one of the lesser-known red wine appellations in the Piedmont region of northwest Italy. The leading variety is Nebbiolo (here named Spanna). Continue reading “Terrini Boca 2016”

Siccagno 2019

The colour is medium ruby. On the nose barnyard and vinaigrette typical of natural wines. With some air, some more pleasant aromas of black cherries, liquorice and chilli pepper appear, but you have to sniff carefully to find them. In the mouth light and acidic. Not much aftertaste worth mentioning. Continue reading “Siccagno 2019”

Cuvée “Champs Fleurs” 2019

The colour is deep gold. On the nose banana, nuts and butter. In the mouth not very fresh and fading. Not much aftertaste.

This wine is made in Arbois by Domaine Martin Faudot with Melon à Queue Rouge grapes.

Melon à Queue Rouge is a mutation of Chardonnay, which was found in the French region of Jura. There is no relation to the Melon de Bourgogne variety. The name rouge is not derived from the colour of the berries, which are white, but from the reddish coloured trunk.

Arbois in located in the eastern part of France and is the Jura wine region’s most-prolific appellation. The shop of Domaine Martin Faudot is one of the three I visited in Arbois during my summer holidays. I left upset with myself for letting the salesperson trick me. After tasting a few wines, I decided to buy two bottles to take home. Not only he sold me a different vintage than the one I tasted, he also charged me 2 EUR extra a bottle, with the argument that they were older vintages. I find this behaviour outrageous, but at the end it was my fault. I should not have bought any wine from such a crook.

For this bottle I paid 17 EUR at the winery, although it sells for 15 EUR (see the reason above).

Alex’s Saperavi 2015

The colour is medium ruby. On the nose a hint of red cherries and raspberries, with a lot of acetone. In the mouth raw, with drying tannins. The aftertaste is long.

Saperavi is a dark-skinned, pink-fleshed grape variety grown widely throughout the Caucasus. It is originally from Georgia and its best expression comes from the Kakheti region, near the eastern border with Azerbaijan, where this wine has been made. Continue reading “Alex’s Saperavi 2015”

En Rougemont 2020

The colour is pale ruby. On the nose it reminds me of a hotel room in which the previous guest has been smoking. In the mouth the taste is as light as the colour. Probably fortunately so. Same for the aftertaste.

This wine is produced by Domaine Baud with 100% Poulsard grapes, under the Côte du Jura AOC, located in the Jura department of France, between Burgundy and Switzerland. Continue reading “En Rougemont 2020”

Chateau Roslane 2017

On the nose at first Brussels sprouts. Overall, a rather artificial wine that doesn’t deliver much pleasure, neither in the mouth nor in the aftertaste.

This wine has been produced in the Meknès region of Morocco by Les Celliers de Meknès. It is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. At Casablanca airport it sells for 20-25 EUR. Continue reading “Chateau Roslane 2017”

Conte Vistarino Pinot Nero 2017

The colour is medium ruby. On the nose some strawberry, but not much. In the mouth acidic, with a bitter aftertaste. Overall not a very pleasant experience.

This Pinot Nero is produced by Conte Vistarino winery under the DOC Pinot Nero dell’Oltrepò Pavese, one of the 7 DOC of this area of the Province of Pavia, which lies to the south of the river Po. Continue reading “Conte Vistarino Pinot Nero 2017”
