Edizione Tre Autoctoni 2020

The colour is pale straw. On the nose papaya, grapefruit, and green tea. In the mouth a pronounced acidity and a citrusy aftertaste that last for a while.

Ziliani “C” Brut

The colour is medium straw. The perlage is delicate. On the nose a hint of Danish pastry, with some apples and pears. In the mouth not much, beside the bubbly sensation. No aftertaste worth mentioning neither.

This Franciacorta sparkling wine is produced by Cantina Chiara Ziliani with a blend of 75% Chardonnay and 25% Pinot Noir. Continue reading “Ziliani “C” Brut”

Le Difese 2018

The colour is deep ruby. Not much neither on the nose, where I barely detect some sour cherries, nor in the mouth, where I feel drying tannins and a bitter finish. The aftertaste is short.

Le Difese is made by Tenuta San Guido, the producer of the famous Sassicaia, first produced with the 1968 vintage. Le Difese is the third wine of the estate, first produced with the 2002 vintage. Alma de Luzón 2016

The colour is deep ruby. Already from the first sight the wine appears thick. An impression that is confirmed by the other senses as well. On the nose it reminds me of a Port wine. Among other aromas I can detect blackberry, caramel and chocolate, a lot of chocolate. In the mouth the wine is succulent. The aftertaste is again similar to a Port and last for a very long time. This wine is very rich, for my taste too rich. It is a wine that gives me more the sensation of eating than drinking. After swallowing it I almost feel like drinking some water. Ruffino Chianti Classico Riserva Ducale 2015

The colour is medium garnet. On the nose very light aroma of red fruits: cherries with some strawberries and raspberries. In the mouth similar to a canoe: close to water. No aftertaste worth mentioning.

This wine is a blend of 80% Sangiovese, with some Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Riserva Ducale is an iconic brand of Chianti. It has seen almost 90 vintages. Continue reading “Ruffino Chianti Classico Riserva Ducale 2015”

Jean-Paul Thévenet Morgon “Vieilles Vignes” 2013

The colour is medium garnet and a bit cloudy. On the nose sour cherries and some earthy notes. In the mouth fresh and at first a bit prickly. The finish is abrupt, but later some fruity flavours come back and stay for a little.

Kallfelz Riesling 2017

I bought these two bottles of Riesling while cruising the Moselle in Autumn last year. I picked them amongst the numerous I tasted at the Mosel-Vinothek in Bernkastel, where some 150 different wines from the Moselle region can be savoured. La Croix de Beaucaillou 2012

The colour is deep ruby. The nose has a spicy and minty character, with green and smoky notes. In the mouth smooth, but not much of an aftertaste worth mentioning.

The 2012 Bordeaux vintage has been a challenging one, due to lousy weather that caused major problems for the ripening of Cabernet Sauvignon. The resulting wines are very variable. Continue reading “La Croix de Beaucaillou 2012”

Ermitage Caprice du temps 2017

The colour is medium yellow. The nose reminds me of lychees, trees resin and herbs. The aroma keeps changing, which I find fascinating, although after a while it seems to fade away. In the mouth the wine is a bit edgy and leaves the mouth with a rough sensation that recalls a medicine. The alcohol content is a whopping 14%.
