Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Gattavecchi 2019

The colour is medium garnet. On the nose tea leaf, plums and dark cherries. In the mouth fresh, with firm tannins but a light body.

Ser Lapo 2019

The colour is medium garnet. On the nose red cherries and thyme. In the mouth fresh and savoury. The aftertaste is pleasant and pretty long.

Ser Lapo is a Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG. The 2019 vintage was made with 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot grapes. It matured for 12 months in 225l/500l French oak barrels (50% new). Continue reading “Ser Lapo 2019”

Icewines

During my 2023 summer holidays in Canada I bought three bottles of Icewine. Each one made with a different grape variety: Riesling, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Since then I tasted all of them. Below the reviews.

Trius Showcase Riesling Icewine 2019: The colour is deep gold. On the nose honey, marmalade, dried apricot, candied pineapple. In the mouth mandarin, with a balance of sweetness and acidity. Continue reading “Icewines”

Teperberger Inspire Meritage 2019

The colour is deep ruby. On the nose very fruity. Blackberries, plums, cherries, and pomegranate. In the mouth medium body, round and silky, with smooth tannins and a nice acidity. The aftertaste is pretty long and chocolate tasting.

This Bordeaux-style wine is made by Teperberger winery by blending 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc, 30% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot grapes. Continue reading “Teperberger Inspire Meritage 2019”

Bodegas Dominguez Tinto 2019

The colour is medium garnet. On the nose game and vegetables. In the mouth rustic, with a short aftertaste.

This red wine is made under the Tacoronte-Acentejo DO, the oldest Denominación de Origen of the Canary Islands. Established in 1992, nowadays this DO accounts for one fifth of the wine production of the Canary Islands. Heida Veritas 2019

The colour is medium yellow. On the nose nuts, apple, ananas, citrus and banana. In the mouth delicate and balanced, with an orange zest taste that lingers on the palate for a while.

Heida Veritas is made in Visperterminen under the AOC Wallis by St. Jodern Kellerei.

Koonunga Hill 2019

The colour is deep purple, almost black. On the nose very fruity, fruit berries, with a dominance of cassis. In the mouth smooth and fruity, with some chocolate. The aftertaste is pleasant, but rather short.

Koonunga Hill is an Australian blend of 65-75% Shiraz and 35-25% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes (depending on the year), produced by Penfolds since 1976. Continue reading “Koonunga Hill 2019”

L’Enclos

The colour is medium gold, with a few fine, short-lasting bubbles. On the nose nuts, accompanied by a subtle aroma of apples and bananas. In the mouth a lively acidity, with the apples reappearing in the taste. The aftertaste is rather short.

This Champagne is made by Liébart-Régniet with 100% Petit Meslier grapes. All grapes come from a single parcel, from the 2019 harvest. Both fermentations, alcoholic and malolactic, have been carried out in oak barrels. Continue reading “L’Enclos”
