Emilio Moro 2018

The colour is medium ruby. On the nose cherries, plumbs, marzipan. In the mouth elegant, soft tannins and medium acidity. The aftertaste is fruity, while at the same time reminding of cocoa. It last for quite a while.

This wine is made with 100% tempranillo grapes by Bodegas Emilio Moro under the Ribera del Duero DO. It is the flagship wine of the winery. It is aged in 50% in French and 50% in American oak. Continue reading “Emilio Moro 2018”

Chateau Lafite Rothschild 1986

The colour is deep garnet. Still very lively. On the nose forest floor, cigar box, fireplace, caramel, spices. In the mouth well balanced, with a good structure. Bright acidity and tannins that are well integrated, but still showing off. The aftertaste is savoury and medium long.

Siro Pacenti PS Brunello di Montalcino 2009

The colour is medium garnet. On the nose prune, undergrowth, mushrooms, liquorice and balsamic notes. In the mouth good structure, with a fruity drying finish. The aftertaste is medium long.

Brunello is a wine produced with 100% Sangiovese grapes. It must be aged for at least two years in oak barrels and a minimum of four months in bottle, but it cannot be marketed before January 1st of the year following the end of five years, calculated including the year of harvest. Prosecco Rosé 2020

The colour is medium copper. On the nose flowers, strawberries and cherries. In the mouth refreshing. The aftertaste is medium long.

This Prosecco Rosé is made by Carpenè Malvolti under the Prosecco DOC denomination. It is a blend of Glera (min. 85%) and Pinot Nero (max. 15%) grapes. Continue reading “Prosecco Rosé 2020”

Chateau Gruaud-Larose 2009

The colour is deep garnet. On the nose at first a bit animal, but also forest floor, tobacco and blueberries. In the mouth very elegant and smooth, with nicely integrated tannins. The colour is light straw. On the nose grapefruit, melon, mango, green pepper. In the mouth fresh and savoury. The aftertaste last for a long time.

Orfeo 2015

The colour is deep ruby, almost impenetrable. On the nose prune, blackcurrant, blackberry, cinnamon, nutmeg. All soaked in spirit. In the mouth good acidity and well-integrated tannins. Maybe slightly too alcoholic. The aftertaste is medium long.

Orfeo Riserva is made under the Colli Bolognesi DOC of eastern Emilia-Romagna (Italy). The DOC was introduced in 1975 and covers both red and white wines. Continue reading “Orfeo 2015”

Kairós 2016

The colour is deep ruby. On the nose very fruity (well matured dark fruits), with some herbs. In the mouth rich and savoury, with a lot of sensations, probably the result of using a wide variety of grapes. The aftertaste is medium long.

Mid October I organised a tasting of Northern Rhône Syrah wines. I visited the region with my wife in Mai 2015. Back then I bought wines from the best denominations: Côte-Rôtie, Hermitage and Cornas. Alter Ego de Palmer 2009

The colour is deep ruby. On the nose ripe black fruits, chocolate and mocha. In the mouth well integrated tannins and balanced. The aftertaste is elegant and last for very long. Very good wine, although I find this bottle less exciting than the one I tasted one year ago.
