Romanée-Conti 2011

The colour is light garnet. On the nose very delicate, with a bouquet leaning towards mint, spices and wood. In the mouth very elegant and subtle, with light but firm tannins. The aftertaste is fruity and medium long.

With time the experience keeps changing, which is to be expected from a wine of this reputation. Continue reading “Romanée-Conti 2011”

Louis Jadot Bourgogne Chardonnay 2018

The colour is medium gold. On the nose golden apple, pineapple, papaya, and butter. In the mouth elegant and tasty, with a citrusy aftertaste that fades fairly quickly.

This Chardonnay is produced by Louis Jadot. A Maison founded in 1859 by the man whose name it bears, Louis Henry Denis Jadot, whose family arrived in Beaune from Belgium in 1794. The house of Louis Jadot was founded in 1859, but the family was already previously active as vignerons in the region. Continue reading “Louis Jadot Bourgogne Chardonnay 2018”

Jean-Paul Thévenet Morgon “Vieilles Vignes” 2013

Clos Des Forêts Saint Georges 2009

Seductive and sophisticated bouquet of forest floor, earth, eucalyptus, mushrooms and some strawberries. Overall a very nice aromatic complexity. (On a bit less poetic tone: at first it did remind me of cola.)

In the mouth as elegant as on the nose. Light and full, old and young at the same time. Subtle flavours of cherries, strawberries and bees wax. Continue reading “Clos Des Forêts Saint Georges 2009”

Les Corcelettes 2007

24 September 2017

Who would expect a Beaujolais, even a Cru, to still be fresh and highly enjoyable after 10 years?

This Morgon (one of the ten Cru of Beaujolais) is a very elegant, smooth and balanced wine, made with Gamay grapes. Still pretty fruity (raspberry) and fresh despite the age. Continue reading “Les Corcelettes 2007”
