On the nose boisé and earthy. It reminds of antique furniture and clay pot. In the mouth it still displays a good acidity, solid tannins and a decent aftertaste. Unfortunately, the overall sensory experience can be defined as fascinating and intriguing, but not really as pleasant. Château la Tour Carnet 2013

The nose is dominated by smoky notes. In the mouth the wood overpowers with disturbing tannins, that accompanies you till the end and leaves you with a dry feeling. Chateau Musar 2009

Olfactory the first impression is of tea with a hint of mint. After swirling, the smell turns earthy and meaty, with fruity aromas in the background. Some more air and the sensations change again and become more subtle.

Sassicaia 2010

On the nose smell of barnyard and dairy products, at first. With time some more pleasant undergrowth notes appear. In the mouth not much beside astringency, thin and absolutely disappointing.

Almaviva 2011

Prevailing herbaceous aroma, with eucalipto’s notes. Even thought at 15% the alcohol content is certainly high, on the nose it get almost unnoticed. On the other side, in the mouth the alcohol is at first predominant, almost burning. After a while, the sensations given by the wine evolve. Continue reading “Almaviva 2011”
