Grace Vineyard 2007

The colour is medium garnet. On the nose antique furniture and leather, with mentholated notes. The bouquet is at first light, but it grows in the glass. In the mouth only the acidity and the by now very soft tannins are left. The most surprising characteristic is the long persistence.

Overall this wine has certainly passed its prime, but it still reveals signs of a noteworthy past, especially for a Chinese wine. Continue reading “Grace Vineyard 2007”

Château Nine Peaks Chardonnay Reserve 2015

Either due to the strong breeze of Châtelaillon-Plage, where I tasted this wine, or as a result of the fact that my son got a small sip before me and left some potato chips flavour on the glass, I had some problems distinguishing the aroma of this Chardonnay. I therefore cannot tell which ones of the typical scents of this well-known grape was predominant: if it was the tropical side of banana, melon, pineapple and guava, the stonefruits côté of peach, nectarine and apricot, or the omnipresent citrus and apple aroma. Moutai Flying Fairy 53%

On the nose very elegant, with perfume like aromas leaning towards soy sauce and floral fragrances. In the mouth a smoky note clearly predominates, accompanied by a burning sensation (due to the high alcohol) and followed by an herbaceous astringent one. The liquor leaves you with a long and pleasant finish, that last forever and that is again dominated by a smoky note.  Continue reading “Moutai Flying Fairy 53%”
