The colour is medium ruby. On the nose blackberries, black cherries, prunes, cinnamon, and some smoke. In the mouth pleasantly smooth, filling and well balanced. The aftertaste last for quite a while.

Cuvée 1858 Rouge 2016

The colour is deep ruby. On the nose prunes, blueberries, black cherries and spices, such as anise and pepper. In the mouth smooth, elegant and tasty. The aftertaste is very long.

Leukersonne Cornalin 2016

The colour is deep purple. On the nose black cherries with a bit of blood. In the mouth juicy, with silky tannins. The aftertaste is fairly long and fruity.

Cornalin is the name given to two distinct, but related, red wine grape varieties from the Alps. One found in the Italian Aosta Valley: “Cornalin d’Aoste”, and one from the Swiss Canton of Valais: “Cornalin du Valais”. This wine is made with Cornalin du Valais grapes. Stricto Sensu 2013

At the first sight the wine appears pretty dense, signalling a lot of matter. The nose is very rich. Pleasantly spicy, with dark cherries mixed in with some coffee and liquorice. Once in the mouth the wine is less filling than it made you anticipate from the visual and olfactory point of view. On the other hand it is more elegant than expected.
