Some are over 200 years old, and many are exclusive to the islands: there are 20 recognized unique grape varieties. This red wine is made under the Tacoronte-Acentejo DO, the oldest Denominación de Origen of the Canary Islands. Established in 1992, nowadays this DO accounts for one fifth of the wine production of the Canary Islands.
