Tasting Notes of Wines around the World
On the nose, the first impression is of very ripe fruits. A bit more in the back and coming forward with some aeration, are peppery spices and dry meat aromas, which nicely complements the plums flavour. Overall a rich and pleasant experience.

On the first sniff the wine gives the impression that not everything went well during vinification, but maybe it is just a very simple wine. A simplicity that is confirmed in the mouth, where matter is clearly missing and not much get expressed.

On the nose nutty flavours, with notes of lemon and melon, accompanied by some smoky sensations. Almost oily mouthfeel, balanced by minerality more than acidity. Once swollen, at first not much. On the nose very clean and linear, with an appealing aroma of sweet raspberry. Nothing more, nothing less. In the mouth rather light, but filling and elegant, with soft but firm tannins and a good acidity. The aftertaste is neither long nor rich, but nevertheless enjoyable. The brilliant color strongly recalls black cherries.
On the nose it displays an inviting aroma of red fruits, liquorice and pepper, with herby undertones.

The aroma is dominated by baked berries, combined with some prunes. The 15% alcohol content is a bit prickly to the nose.
The high alcohol accompanies you in the mouth as well, with a slightly burning, but also velvety, sensation. Overall pleasing and rich in fruits, with a slightly dry finish and a fairly persistent aftertaste. Continue reading “Bembibre 2011”
Deep ruby red to the eyes. Rich, ripe and intense on the nose, with notes of black berries and spices. Nice and fascinating complexity, with the fruit that keeps hiding and showing up discretely. In the mouth elegant, but less filling than you could expect. Earthy, mineral sensations dominate. Firm yet rounded tannins and nice acidity. The aftertaste gets a bit cut off. On the nose I can detect some pears and apple, but not much and not much more. In the mouth the wine quickly disappears. It lacks freshness and seems exhausted. I wonder if something is wrong with the specific bottle. On the other side, the couple of Cava I tried in the past didn’t impress me neither. The wine sells at Coop for 15 CHF. As the grape name let you guess, this Nerello Mascalese presents itself with a very dark color.
