Chateau Roslane 2017

On the nose at first Brussels sprouts. Overall, a rather artificial wine that doesn’t deliver much pleasure, neither in the mouth nor in the aftertaste.

This wine has been produced in the Meknès region of Morocco by Les Celliers de Meknès. It is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. At Casablanca airport it sells for 20-25 EUR. Continue reading “Chateau Roslane 2017”

Jean-Paul Thévenet Morgon “Vieilles Vignes” 2013

The colour is medium garnet and a bit cloudy. On the nose sour cherries and some earthy notes. In the mouth fresh and at first a bit prickly. The finish is abrupt, but later some fruity flavours come back and stay for a little.

Morgon is one of the 10 Beaujolais crus located on the slopes on the western side of the Saone River. Continue reading “Jean-Paul Thévenet Morgon “Vieilles Vignes” 2013”

Tenimento dell’Ör Pinot Nero 2016

The colour is pale ruby. The nose is dominated by floral aromas of rose petal and geranium, accompanied by some cola. In the mouth it gives a drying sensation. The aftertaste reminds of red fruits and is fairly long.

This Pinot Noir is made by Agriloro, a winery located in the southern part of Switzerland that stands out for the wide variety of grapes it cultivates and vinifies in Ticino. Continue reading “Tenimento dell’Ör Pinot Nero 2016”

Conte Vistarino Pinot Nero 2017

The colour is medium ruby. On the nose some strawberry, but not much. In the mouth acidic, with a bitter aftertaste. Overall not a very pleasant experience.

This Pinot Nero is produced by Conte Vistarino winery under the DOC Pinot Nero dell’Oltrepò Pavese, one of the 7 DOC of this area of the Province of Pavia, which lies to the south of the river Po. Continue reading “Conte Vistarino Pinot Nero 2017”

Gurnzan 2017

The colour is pale ruby. The nose is dominated by red fruits: raspberries, strawberries and cherries, with some dried roses. In the mouth smooth and pleasant. It is a shame that the aftertaste doesn’t last longer.

This Blauburgunder is produced near Bolzano by K. Martini & Sohn, a family run winery founded in 1979. Continue reading “Gurnzan 2017”

Zweigelt Sandstein 2016

On the nose this richly colored wine displays light red cherry and raspberry flavours, accompanied by a more prominent black pepper sensation. In the mouth it has a medium-light body, with a not very pleasant drying sensation (I would guess due to some not fully matured tannins). The aftertaste is basically absent. Continue reading “Zweigelt Sandstein 2016”

Maquinon 2015

The colour is medium ruby. On the nose the 14% alcohol content is clearly detectable and disturbing, also due to the lack of other aromas and a slight reminder of acetone. In the mouth acidity, dryness and bitterness is all I can perceive. No aftertaste worth mentioning, which, given the overall experience, is probably an advantage. Continue reading “Maquinon 2015”

MachoMan 2016

The colour is medium purple. On the nose intense aroma of plum and cherry, accompanied by some rosemary. In the mouth it gives a pleasant, although not motley, sensation. The aftertaste is austere, but also fruity, and last for a while.

MachoMan is produced under the Jumilla DO in Murcia, a small region of Spain located on the Mediterranean coast between Andalucia and Valencia. Continue reading “MachoMan 2016”

Grace Vineyard 2007

The colour is medium garnet. On the nose antique furniture and leather, with mentholated notes. The bouquet is at first light, but it grows in the glass. In the mouth only the acidity and the by now very soft tannins are left. The most surprising characteristic is the long persistence.

Overall this wine has certainly passed its prime, but it still reveals signs of a noteworthy past, especially for a Chinese wine. Continue reading “Grace Vineyard 2007”
