The colour is deep garnet. On the nose meaty, smoky, spicy, with some prunes. In the mouth very tasty with a bitter finish. The aftertaste last for a while.

Pascal Henriot Pinot Noir 2021

The colour is (very) pale ruby. On the nose at first mainly acetone, which with some air fades, but doesn’t disappear (unfortunately). In the mouth acidic. The aftertaste doesn’t last long (fortunately).

Malvirà Renesio Riserva 2009

The colour is medium garnet. On the nose prune, cherries under spirit, orange marmalade and tobacco. Although still enjoyable, in the mouth this wine has passed its best. The sensations are subtle, the flavours are fading and the aftertaste rather short.

Masi Recioto Amarone 1973

The colour is deep tawny. Still very lively. On the nose port like. Coffee, dark chocolate, toasted nuts and balsamic notes. In the mouth very smooth, with a good acidity. The aftertaste last for quite a while.

Buttafuoco 2017

The colour is medium ruby. On the nose cherries, blackberries and some toasted notes. In the mouth rather light and thin, but refreshing. The alcohol is a bit too high. The aftertaste is pleasantly fruity, but fades away quickly.

This wine is made under the Buttafuoco dell’Oltrepò Pavese DOC. It is a blend of Croatina, Barbera and Uva Rara. Continue reading “Buttafuoco 2017”

Terrini Boca 2016

The colour is deep garnet. On the nose blood and alcohol (my blood type 😊). In the mouth tannins and alcohol. The aftertaste is very short (fortunately). This wine is barely drinkable, and I decided not to drink it.

Antares 2014

The colour is medium garnet. On the nose prunes, blueberries and meat. In the mouth light, but well balanced and still pleasant to drink. The aftertaste is medium long.

This wine is a blend of 60% Avgoustiatis and 40% Mourvedre grapes. Avgoustiatis is a little-known red wine grape variety found scattered around the Greek islands (most notably on Zakynthos) and the Peloponnese peninsula. Emilio Moro 2018

The colour is medium ruby. On the nose cherries, plumbs, marzipan. In the mouth elegant, soft tannins and medium acidity. The aftertaste is fruity, while at the same time reminding of cocoa. It last for quite a while.

This wine is made with 100% tempranillo grapes by Bodegas Emilio Moro under the Ribera del Duero DO. It is the flagship wine of the winery. It is aged in 50% in French and 50% in American oak. Continue reading “Emilio Moro 2018”

Naigartèn 2019

The colour is deep ruby. On the nose cherries and lawn. In the mouth not much body, but a pleasantly sour and drying finish. The kind of wine that pairs well with greasy dishes. The aftertaste doesn’t last long.

Naigartèn is a natural wine made by Gradizzolo winery in Monteveglio on the hills near Bologna. Before release, it is aged 12 months in big oak barrels and 6 months in bottle. It is made with 100% Negrettino grapes. Continue reading “Naigartèn 2019”
