The colour is pale ruby. The nose is dominated by floral aromas of rose petal and geranium, accompanied by some cola. In the mouth it gives a drying sensation. The aftertaste reminds of red fruits and is fairly long.
This Pinot Noir is made by Agriloro, a winery located in the southern part of Switzerland that stands out for the wide variety of grapes it cultivates and vinifies in Ticino. To make its 24 distinct wines it uses grapes ranging from the common Merlot to the uncommon Petit Verdot, Carmenere and Tannat. Example of grapes rarely vinified in Ticino, but made as varietal wines by Agriloro are: Pinot Noir, Syrah, Viognier, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer and Muscat.
I visited Tenimento dell’Ör a few years ago. Back then I had only a superficial knowledge of the wine world and wasn’t able to fully appreciate the value of the commitment of this winery in experimenting with various grape varieties. Nevertheless, I clearly remember the passion of the owner, Meinrad Perler, for viticulture and experimentation. Another memory of my visit at Tenimento dell’Ör that I’ve cherished every time it crossed my mind is the overwhelming hospitality Mr Perler reserved us.
I received this bottle as a gift from Jacques Perler, Meinrad’s son. At the winery it sells for 28 CHF.
