The colour is medium purple. On the nose fruity, blueberries and cherries, with some rhubarb. In the mouth light, with a pronounced acidity. Both, aroma and taste, are surprisingly clean for a natural wine. The aftertaste is medium long.
This natural wine is made with 100% Teran grapes by Skerk under the Venezia Giulia IGT.
Teran is a member of the Refosco family (more accurately pluralized as the Refoschi), an ancient group of closely related dark-skinned grape varieties. Their place of origin, which pre-date modern day political borders, include northern Italy’s Friuli-Venezia Giulia, western Slovenia and the Istrian Peninsula of Croatia. Teran is the best known Kras wine.
The Karst region is a plateau extending across the border of southwestern Slovenia and northeastern Italy. It lies between the Vipava Valley, the westernmost part of the Brkini Hills, northern Istria, and the Gulf of Trieste.
Azienda Agricola Skerk apply an entirely natural and organic approach to vine-growing and winemaking.
Venezia Giulia IGT is one of several IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica) titles used in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region of northeast Italy. It covers the entire Friuli-Venezia Giulia region between the Italian Alps and the Adriatic Sea, catering to a wide range of wine styles made from both local and international grape varieties.
