The colour is light gold. On the nose tropical aromas combined with notes of citrus and peach. In the mouth refreshing flavours of green apple and lemon. The aftertaste is medium long.
This white wine is a blend of 5 different hybrid grape varieties: L’Acadie Blanc, Seyval Blanc, Vidal Blanc, Ortega and New York Muscat.
Acadie is the result of a crossing of Seyve-Villard 14-287 and Cascade. It was developed at the Vineland Research and Innovation Station in Ontario in 1953.
Seyval Blanc is the most successful of a series of French hybrid grapes developed by Bertille Seyve and Victor Villard in the mid-20th Century.
Vidal is produced from Ugni Blanc and Rayon d’Or (Seibel 4986). It was developed in the 1930s by French wine grape breeder Jean Louis Vidal, whose primary goal in developing the variety was for the production of Cognac.
Ortega is a German hybrid grape variety developed in 1948 by crossing Müller-Thurgau and Siegerrebe.
New York Muscat was created at Cornell University’s experimental station as a cross between Muscat Hamburg and Ontario.
This Tidal Bay is made in Nova Scotia by Domaine de Grand Pré, a family owned and operated winery founded in 1994 by the Swiss Hanspeter Stutz.
I drunk this bottle the night of my 50 birthday at a fancy restaurant in Halifax, where I paid 55 CAD. On the winery website it sells for 20.26 CAD (14 CHF).
