The colour is medium gold, with fine, long lingering bubbles. On the nose pastry and creamy notes, with a hint of apricot. In the mouth velvety and tasty. The aftertaste last for a pleasant while.
This Champagne is produced by Trimbaut-Schloesser with 50% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Meunier grapes. All grapes are sourced from 3 “Premier Cru” classified terroirs: Ay, Écueil and Hautvillers.
This Champagne ages for 30 months on the lees before disgorgement. It is an Extra Brut with a dosage of 5 grams of sugar per litre. 20% of the reserve wines are aged in oak.
The history of the Maison is traced back to the early 20th century, when René Schloesser, a young farmer from Luxembourg, left his country of origin for a better life in the Champagne region of France. When in 1929 France was in the grips of a severe economic crisis and the champenois traders had stopped buying his grapes, René decided to make and sell his own champagne. In 1950, his daughter married Jean Tribaut, who also owned vineyards. They combined their vineyard holdings and today’s brand was created: Champagne Tribaut-Schloesser.
In 1986, the Maison began selling its bottles abroad: Germany, Belgium, Great Britain, Switzerland and the U.S. In the 1990’s, Tribaut-Schloesser started buying grapes from other wine growers. Today the Maison has customers in over 25 countries around the world.
This bottle sells at Manor for 31.90 CHF.
